Pinellas County is located in Pinellas County, Florida which includes Clearwater, Largo, Belleair Bluffs, Belleair, Oldsmar,
Pinellas Park, Safety
Harbor, Tarpon Springs & St Petersburg.
We are on the west coast
of Florida . Beautiful white beaches are in our county.
We meet the fourth Tuesday of each
month except for December. In December we hold a Christmas Party.
At our regular meeting we have a social hour & dinner from 5:30
until 7:00.

was presented at our February meeting to a very
deserving woman from Women on the Way.
She received a check for $1500.

Women Luncheon
The Soroptimist International Club of
Upper Pinellas hosted its 34 th
Annual Women Honoring Women Luncheon
on Saturday, March 26th
2011
at the Clearwater Country Club.
This year’s honorees include Shirley Long in
Philanthropy, Sgt Denise Nestor for Law Enforcement,
Patti Hanks for Social
Services, Cathy Wagner in Business, Wanda Fyfe for Community Service
and Tracey
Arehart
for Volunteerism.
These women make Clearwater and Upper Pinellas County a
better place to live by their contributions to the community.

Some of us attended District II Meeting“Think

Three Day Breast Cancer Walk.
Our club sent $50 to support Julie
Anastasia in her Three Day Breast Cancer Walk.
Julie is a breast cancer
survivor and was a member of the SI Orlando club.
Faces of Domestic Violence Annual
fundraiser.
The Winter 2009 RCS Messenger
(Religious Community Services newsletter) listed the Soroptimists who
attended and
contributed to Faces of Domestic Violence annual
fundraiser. Terry, Linda, Mel, Marsha, Phyllis and Karen.
We held a Fun Christmas Party at Linda's House just for us.
Christmas Family Support
We supported a woman and her children at the Haven this Christmas.
We also supported a woman and her children from Women on the Way.
Each family received a $250 gift card to Target.

Transitional Living Program
Some of our members were donating their time
and money to host birthday parties
for the teen age girls at
the
Transitional Living Program in Clearwater.
Joint District II Women's Opportunity Award
Luncheon
There was a Joint District II Women's
Opportunity Award Luncheon and gift presentation to our WOA
receiptiants of a laptop computer provided by Jackson Hewitt
corporation. As Jackson Hewitt has their corporate headquarters in
Sarasota; it was their wish to make the presentation to our District
as a whole and garner goodwill and publicity for themselves and
Soroptimist.
With very little notice we hosted a luncheonn March 16th at the
Clearwater Country Club.
Each winner received a full size
Lenovo Laptop. Only our first place winner received the laptop.
Women's Opportunity Awards Checks and our
Violet Richardson Award
We gave our Women's Opportunity Awards Checks and
our Violet Richardson Award at our March 23rd regular meeting.
We gave 2 WOA awards, one -$1000 and a
second -$500.
The Violet Richardson Award winner received $100 and her charity
received a matching $100.

My Hope Chest
In April we invited members of SI Holiday
Isles, Tampa and Largo to attend our meeting to hear our very special
guest speaker, Alisa Savoretti, Founder and President of My Hope Chest,
a foundation assisting women with the overwhelming cost of breast
reconstruction. As a breast cancer survivor, she founded this
organization based on her own experience and those of other women she
met who experienced the emotional trauma of breast removal without the
financial ability to obtain reconstruction surgery. She recently moved
to the area and we thought this would be an excellent opportunity for
her to meet all of the Soroptimists in the area and for us to become
better informed about this new resource.
At the time we made individual donations to
her cause.
At the end of April, some of us attended the 84th Southern Region Conference in
Deerfield Beach.
Some of us attended the
District II
Meeting on
Oct 16th. It was hosted by SI Tampa.
Our October Meeting was again a Halloween Party/Meeting at Marsha's
home.
Our Christmas Party was
Hosted by Betsi Lewis at Alfanos' in Largo.
We supported a Christmas Family at Women on
the Way with a Gift Card of $250.
